Building Community

In West Africa, the djembe drum is know to mean, " unity drum" or " the gathering drum".  This seems very appropriate after experiencing a drum cirlce or community gathering of percussionists. The sound of drumming draws people to approach and listen and watch.  Also dancing seems to just flow naturally from the rhythms produced. The drummers, dancers and onlookers all form a group that has naturally formed; called by the energy of the vibrations.  A community very much joined only for this moment.  Strangers coming together, joyfully sharing the experience of the moment being co-created.
